In accordance with Michigan and federal laws, Pathways Academy has Child Find policies and procedures in place to identify, locate, and evaluate students who may have a disability under the IDEA and are in need of special education and related services, regardless of the severity of their disability and consistent with the State’s Child Find and eligibility standards.

This responsibility includes students who have never been identified as a student with a disability. A variety of diagnostic services are available. A student who meets the eligibility requirements for special education has the right to participate in the general curriculum in the least restrictive environment (LRE).

The program of support and services is described within the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). Providing a free appropriate public education (FAPE) for a student with a disability begins with the consideration of services in the LRE.

Pathways Academy’s unique curriculum and blended learning approach offers delivery of special education services without removing the student, unnecessarily, from the general curriculum or setting. Supplementary aids and services received by the student are determined by individualized need.
